9 Native Plants Deer Mostly Don't Eat

While no plant is completely deer-proof, some Texas native plants are naturally more deer-resistant than others.

White-tailed deer are browsers. They feed on a wide variety of plants, including wildflowers, vines, shrubs, and even young trees. During drought, when natural forage becomes limited, landscapes often become much more attractive to hungry deer.

The good news?

Some native plants have evolved defenses that make them far less appealing—strong aromas, fuzzy leaves, tough fibers, spines, and natural plant compounds that deer tend to avoid.

Watch the video to see which 9 Texas natives made the list and read our latest Blog entry for all the details.
