Texas TAX FREE Weekend for Water-Wise Plants, Mulch, Compost, Irrigation Supplies

 

 

 

You might be aware that there are State Sponsored TAX FREE holidays for Back to School and Emergency Preparedness items BUT did you know there is also a TAX FREE weekend for Water Saving Landscape Products?!!

As plant lovers and gardeners ourselves, we are THRILLED that many gardening related products will be discounted this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday, Sunday and Monday May 27^th– 29^th.

While participation in this tax-free event should be available at ALL your favorite plant spots, you can be assured Rooted In will be offering all the qualifying products with tax free savings!!!

**We are open each Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and Sundays from 10am-5pm!

What’s Tax Free?!

Residential lawn and garden customers can buy the following products without tax:

Plants!!! Trees, Shrubs, Perennials and Grasses qualify for the tax savings, but be sure to choose drought-tolerant native and adapted plants that are well adapted to the summer heat… especially when planting in late May or early June.

Mulch: reduces weed pressure, but also helps hold in water in addition to helping more water infiltrate the soil during rain events. Our favorites for the landscape are 2”-4” of cedar or hardwood mulches, spread around trees, shrubs and perennials. Or try straw or pine straw mulches, which work best for the vegetable garden.

Compost: can be made at home with food scraps or yard waste you normally throw away, but if you don’t have enough on hand, buy it tax-free Memorial Day weekend and take advantage of the many benefits compost has, like helping hold moisture in the soil during hot, dry summers.

Drip Irrigation: helps save water by slowly placing water closer to the root zone, where plants can take advantage, reducing evaporation and excess runoff, lowering your summer water bill!

With temperatures starting to creep up, unpredictable summer rainfall patterns on the way, set yourself up for success by picking from  Rooted In’s “Top 100 Plants for North Texas” that are resilient and can be successfully established this late in the season.
